Julien Kerneur: PKRA Mexico

Hi,
I was in Mexico, Playa del Carmen, from 19 till 22 of April to attend the first PKRA racing event of the year. All the best riders of the world were here.

We had 7 though races along 3 days of racing, with very physical runs of 20-25 minutes each. The race courses where pretty short, but we had to complete 3 laps before to cross the finish line!!!

I the end I reach the 5th Overall position, after a rough fight against the USA riders and against my good friend Olivier Dansin.

Just to let you have an idea, during the race I was always challenging to reach the top positions, and often I found myself in 2nd or 3rd position during the 2nd lap of the course!

Next weeks I'll be again at home in France to attend the national championship and then I'll go to Austria to attend the KTE race event before to challenge again the USA team during the second PKRA event in Holland.

See you
Julien

Salut

PKRA MEXICO Day 1 - Racing Begins in Playa Del Carmen

Day 1 is gone. Very light wind. Only one race finished. Nothing interesting to tell.
Julien Kerneur was little stiff at his first real event of the year and and after the start and some mistakes he was fighting for the 3rd and 4th position for 3 laps. But in the end he missed the arrival line and end this first race in 10th position.

We are pretty sure he can pull out better performances on the next races...
More to come... stay connected...

Dan Sweeney: Windsurfing session after work at Sea Sprite (RRD UK)

Hi guys,

Just a quick update from this week in the UK,

We've had some amazing conditions on the south coast and after work at Sea Sprite (RRD UK) Myself and mighty whitey went for a windsurfing session down Shoreham with Nik Baker.

Conditions were strong - 4.2 weather and we got some cool shots.

I'd did 3 months worth of Windsurfing in St.Lucia over the winter and I managed to get a handful of sessions last year but I'm loving it now and it goes hand in hand with my kitesurfing!

Cheers guys, Hope all is well

Best Regards,

Dan Sweeney

Official RRD test center Mexico

A few pictures from the new school Kitesurf Mexico (official RRD test center) in Playa del Carmen. Playa (as is known among locals) is considered the "pearl of the Mexican Caribbean" and the sport of kitesurfing is growing exponentially. The school operates on a beautiful private Caribbean beach (one of the last stretches of virgin beach in Playa del Carmen) with a flat sandy bottom. The beach offers a flat water area (protected by a reef) and a small waves area.

Seb Garat: got 6th at Mondial Du Vent - report

After a bad start on the 1st event in Morocco, I had a much better competition here in France, almost at home.
Many competitors registred for this event, and the first day of competition was only for the trials. As I was still in the top 8, I could keep my energy for the main event!

On Sunday, we started the single elimination in a very strong wind. These day, I pumped only my 6 and 7 meters Obsession Pro on the beach. I think the wind was blowing over 40 in the gusts!
I met the Austrian rider Mike Shitzofer in my First heat of the day. We both were overpowered on our 6m kite, but I still manage to crash less than him and passed this heat.

On the next one, I met the Liam Whaley who just had beat Youri Zoon in his previous heat. I crashed way too much on my heat, and had trouble trying to keep control of my kite in the very strong wind. Liam landed a lot of tricks and beat me !
We had to wait until wednesday that the Tramontane wind came back to finish the double elimination. I met first Patrick Blanc from spain. This young rider rode very well, but I win over him with more power in my tricks.

Then I met the dominican rider Ariel Corniel in the fight for the 6th place. The wind was good for my Obsession Pro 10,5 in this heat. I had my best heat of the comp, and scored a 48 points heat. With the new scoring system, only the 7 best tricks count, and we have 12 attempts maximum per heat. And each trick has a note between 0.1 and 10. That mean that my average tricks note in this heat was over 6,8.

Than I met Youri Zoon for the 5th place heat. I went still on my 10,5 Ob Pro in this heat, and was perfectly powered during the 2 first tacks of my heat. Then the wind totally dropped and Youri could make some tricks at the end of the competition area as I had my board under the water ! I expected the race direction to cancel the heat and to re-run it in decent conditions, but it didn't goes this way and I lost...

I was just frustrated that I couldn't express myself in this last heat. Anyway, I finish 6th on the second event of the year. I'm sure I can get better if I ride in good conditions and reach the top 5. That's my goal for the next event in Holland in May.

While I was Freestyling, my windsurf Team mate Antoine Albeau was racing against the kite on the Speed challenge, fighting every run for the victory, and in the end he took a good 3rd place.
Congrats !
Cheers, and thanks for support.
Seb

Pascal Toselli: news AFF

Ciao!
Some news of the first event AFF!
in attachement some picture...
I'm just come back home after the first event of the French Championship held at Loctudy/la Torche in Brittany.
We had very tough condition down there, with gusty wind (10/20 knots) and very choppy water.
Anyway, in the end we almost complete 2 complete rounds.
This was the first event of the year, so it was opportunity to test our winter training against the best French slalom riders and to find again the feeling to race in "Real World Conditions" just before the first PWA event that will start in Italy in a couple of days...
The good second place that I gained in this first French Event makes me verry confident looking for the next challenges of this season...
Now I'm on my track to Reggio Calabria and I can't wait to be there and start the event!

A+
Pascal

Ciao!
Some news of the first event AFF!
in attachement some picture..

Pascal
I start this afternoon at Reggio Calabria!
impatient !!!
A+

Patrick Bergeron: Board Graphic Survey

Hi all,
Thought you'd get a good kick (and a trip through time) from this
one ...and can probably re-post on your page/site:

A survey on a Canadian forum I follow and participate in to see which
board/year had the best graphics ...gets people talking as the real
start of the season approaches for the mainland people - though some
warm-blooded guys have already started.
Maui's been ON FIRE this spring!... Great sailing EVERY DAY!... Been
getting pics for new Sailworks as well.
Hope this finds you well.
Aloha,
Patrick
