John Skye è appena ritornato a casa dall'Irlanda,
dove ha partecipato ad una tappa del campionato inglese wave.
Si è gareggiato in condizioni estreme, forse le condizioni più estreme in cui John sia mai sceso in acqua: John era sovrainvelato con la 3.6 e onde ove mast rompevano fin'oltre un kilometro dalla costa!!!
John ha disputato la gara con una RRD WaveTwin 74 e una Naish Boxer 3.6 e dopo essere arrivato secondo al termine della single elimiantion, è riuscito a riqualificarsi per la finale della doube elimination. Ha vinto la prima finale, ma purtroppo non è riuscito a ripetersi nella seconda finale.
Logicamente sarebbe stato meglio concludere questa sfaticata con una bella vittoria, ma tutto sommato direi che si è trattato di una bella impresa...

Prossimo appuntamento per lui in programma il prossimo fine settimana, ma le privi danno vento leggero e probabilmente John infilerà i piedi nelle strap di un X-Fire 112 per strambare attorno a qualche boa... siamo davvero curiosi di vedere come se la caverà!

Just come back from a pretty amazing event in Ireland. I think probably the most extreme conditions I have ever sailed in. The double elimination final was held in totally overpowered 3.6 weather, cross offshore, with over mast high waves breaking up to a kilometre out to sea. I used the 74 wave Twin with my Naish Boxer 3.6. After finishing 2nd in the single elimination I had to beat the winner twice to take the victory. I managed to win the first heat, but didn't have a good second heat and just lost out to Jamie Hancock. Obviously I would rather have won, but it is still good for the overall for the year.
This weekend we have the next round of the wave tour, but the forecast isn't looking great. If it ends up light winds I have my X-fire 112 and will have a go at the slalom. Should be fun, its been a while since I raced.
