Down the line windsurfing is my specialty, I love it. Especially when the waves are mast high or bigger, long and hollow, with side off shore wind smoothing off their faces. This type of wave sailing conditions is what I live for, train for and search for. I dedicated my life to it, and my sponsors have helped me achieved my dreams of riding perfect waves around the world.



Living on the island of Oahu has been perfect for my lifestyle and to satisfy my passion for riding waves. But even when you live on a Pacific Island Wave Magnet, you don't get perfect windsurfing conditions everyday. My goal is always to be on top of my game for when those perfect conditions roll around. I need to be used to my equipment and be in good shape all the time and this is where training and cross training comes in.

It is great that my main sponsor, RRD, makes all the water-sport toys that I love to use, obviously great windsurfing board but also the top kiteboarding equipment on the market, and a wide selection of high performance surfboard: short board, longboards and SUPs. I am very proud and stoked to use all of the RRD product for my training.

Kiteboarding: I love to kite board when there are no waves and the wind is good, I know I am not missing out on Wave Sailing and I can practice big jumps on flat water. Now a days learning how to kite is easy due to how good the equipment is, and when you have a windsurfing background it is even easier. This year I have been using a 10 and 8 meter RRD RELIGION KITE with a POISON 41 freestyle twin tip board, and it has been so much fun.

SUP: I have been using the new 8'11 SUPPER, and I have been very happy with its performance. This board is the most versatile of all boards. It can be surfed in small or large waves, be used as a windsurf board, and it is still big enough for flat water cruising. SUP is the perfect Cross Trainning sport as it works most of the body muscles, for a great fitness training, and it is also super fun to ride waves with it.

Kiteboarding and SUP has been my 2 favorite cross training activities the past couple of seasons and they have been very beneficial to my Wave Sailing. Those sports have helped me to stay in great shape and stay connected to the water while waiting for those perfect windsurfing conditions.

Practicing all these various water sports also keeps my mind open, helps me be ready for anything, and appreciate and respect everybody that I encounter on the water, it doesn't mater what kind of board they are riding.



The ultimate goal is not just to be at your best, but be at your best for ever. I always keep that in mind while training and getting ready for those magical days.

Partito finalmente il Campionato Italiano Longboard 2011 (ILT) targato
Surfing Italia.
Dopo aver rimandato in autunno la 1° tappa in calendario in Emilia
Romagna, il Campionato è partito con la 2° tappa toscana, ottimamente
organizzata dai ragazzi del Nimbus Surfing Club.
Le condizioni del mare sono state abbastanza impegnative e le onde non
erano di facile interpretazione, questo ha fatto si che gli atleti più
talentuosi e di esperienza, hanno progredito nel contest, batteria
dopo batteria.

An exceptional rider for an exceptional wave

Here is a link to a video of our Kiteboarding teamrider Alessandro Benetton, vice president of Benetton Group Spa, riding the wave of the RRD boat "Toy1" designed to produce a full head -hi wake to be ridden with a classic surfboard.

Alessandro , riding the wake for his first time, feels absolutely comfortable right away and states:

" It's a great way to get better in surfing, and riding this wake feels completely different than just looking at it. It's a real adrenaline rush!"

Secret spot

Surfare in Italia durante l’estate non è mai “semplice”, i pochi fenomeni atmosferici hanno una forza ed ampiezza limitata. Così accade spesso che gli spot classici non riescano ad attivarsi. Scarsamente propenso ad arrendermi alla piattanza, mi metto alla ricerca di siti atti a non sprecare il moto ondoso creato dalla bora. Ovvio che un compromesso s’impone in questi casi, occorre cioè affrontare rischi maggiori scivolando sopra fondali costellati di rocce semiaffioranti. Nell’ultima uscita ad esempio mi son procurato : un taglietto ad un dito, due lividi e almeno quattro graffi. Come a dire che, me la son cavata a buon mercato!?! Il nome da dare a questo spot che ho “spulzellato”? Credo che ciò che renderebbe meglio l’idea è : RRD, Rocks Raped Desires = Desideri Violentati dalle Rocce. Ma probabilmente si chiamerà più semplicemente : SECRETS’SUICIDE.

Ansia-donia, ovvero la lunga attesa.
Venerdi attendo fino alle 19:30 che lo scirocco gonfi il mare, ma arriva solo un piede d'onda e bisogna accontentarsi. Entro e dopo un pò mi fanno i complimenti per "quanto va bene la mia tavola"! Commosso, la offro in prova, ma solo per un paio di onde!
La luna piena rischiara la notte, ma lo swell ancora non arriva. All'alba c'è, ma è così attivo che occorre attendere. Esco comunque per qualche take off, ma dopo poco mi arrendo alla corrente e rientro.
Alle 9:30 ricevo un sms dal Marze, c'è vento e onda a Principina. 4.7 e tavola piccola fino a metà giornata poi tutto cala. Nel frattempo i miei amici surfisti non mi rispondono al telefono, devono essere in acqua! Mangio una pizza e torno alla baia, mi ributto e smetto solo prima di cena.

Ancora un'uscita ai piedi del monte conero, ma anche stavolta non era neanche ipotizzabile un photo shooting dato che la giornata era plumbea, con pioggia battente e vento. Fortunatamente la lunga attesa è stata stemperata da un uscita in mare alle 19:30 quando finalmente vento e
precipitazioni si sono momentaneamente placati.
Il mare attivo, il basso periodo d'onda e il fetch praticamente nullo della perturbazione che avevamo sulla testa, ha reso alquanto difficile scegliere la giusta posizione e le pareti migliori.
Il takeoff era ripido e abbastanza al largo dato che le onde erano alte 1,5 mt, ma ad esso seguiva una lunga sezione assolutamente inconsistente dove per raggiungere la ripida sezione finale a volte non era sufficiente pompare, ma mi era necessario accovacciarmi e sfruttare
tutto il volume del mio fish 6'2".
La corrente e la difficoltà a trovar onde non hanno però intaccato il privilegio, dopo una intera giornata di brutto tempo, di vedere dall'acqua il cielo tingersi di rosa e arancione al tramonto.

2 giugno – festa della Repubblica
Una rara perturbazione da nord agita di nuovo il mare adriatico, il sole però stavolta c'è. E' l'ora di fare un po' di footage con la telecamera.
Ma prima bisogna trovare lo spot giusto, un rapido giro di sms ed eccomi in spiaggia. Ci sono onde un po' sopra il metro che esplodono in partenza ma che spesso hanno poca spalla, reclutiamo un cameraman tra gli amici fuori a guardare e via con la prima sessione. Al ritorno ci
dice di aver filmato le varie onde prese, per pura curiosità riguardiamo subito il nastro : vuoto! Maledizione, nulla di fatto. Dobbiamo tornare in acqua, recluto un secondo cameraman visto che il primo se ne è andato e pure il mio amico. Così torno da solo nel mare attivo, esco agilmente dal canale agitato ma trovare la posizione giusta è un terno al lotto,
in più il mio secondo operatore ha una mano che pare quella di un ubriaco e le riprese ne sono la conseguenza. Nel frattempo il mare cala vistosamente e anche la seconda sessione si rivela infruttuosa …

Haven't been windsurfing for years, this was a day in The Algarve,
Praia da Rocha, a spot were I ride a lot.
This day was no wind enought for jumping,
just wave riding,

This was my first day windsurfing in waves since 4 or 5 years or even longer....

The gear that im using was a s*#t, the board doesn't want to turn, but it was still a very nice session...

This movie, just has 2 riders, a good frend of me, Miguel Martinho,
and me... he is on the Neilpryde, I'm on the Gaastra..

When its Levante wind for a few days, the waves start piking up, wind is side off, perfect for riding those waves..
