Mateo: News from paradise

Ciaorana,
Some news from paradise and my home spot. We got a small South Swell windows last week, not big because this is not the season but enough to have time and wave to edit a perfect clip for RRD.

Lagoon Dreams on Vimeo and Youtube and also GOPRO of the day and share in US on specialized SUP website.
When i say "Perfect" it's just because we do a buzz on Vimeo more than 42000 view in 6 days :-)))). A buzz with a realy simple but beautiful video we use the famous quadricopter for some footages.
But we also understand something, in a video, people need to identify herself, because we understand majority of the people are not team rider but simple consumer who just need to dream and think about her next holydays on RRD board.
I'm Matéo a RRDiscoverer rider, and where you are just have fun and share with passion.
Alohaaaaaaaaaaaaa

[johnskye.com News Blog] SA Full Power

What a trip this has been so far. Full power is the only way to describe it. Full power wind at times, and full power testing. We started with the new Wave Cults, and together with Jem we tried everything in every wind, including some pretty extreme light wind boards. Then all the new sail proto types arrived so the testing moved on to that. In the middle there has been fin, boom, mast and mast extension tests going on, so its been busy busy.
Thankfully everything is working really well, in fact so well that we brought Whitey out here to do the final destruction testing. Everything passed with flying colours except some boom clamp rope that left him swimming in some of the most shark infested waters on the planet!
At the same time as all this we have had some amazing conditions out here. Big swell and good riding, fun jump sessions, flat water freeride blasting, and just about everything else in between. We still have another week to go, and the forecast looks really good once again.

This place really does rule!

Cheers
John Skye

Yuri D'Ottavi just sent us a cool video featuring himself riding in Maui his RRD Religion MKII kite and RRD Maquina surfboard... and conditions look more than decent we could say!!!

Albeau and the Saint-Barth Fun Cup

First official event and first victory for Antoine Albeau powered by RRD X-Fire LTD V4 boards. We have seen some great action on the internet and the news of this victory already flied all around, so it's time to have a proper talk with the man to know exactly what happened in this paradise island!

 - Ciao Antoine, St. Barth event looks like being a great success... can you give us your first impressions about it?

Yes, the event was a success, it was 3 days of contest and we did 6 long distance and one show race in the lagoon on the last afternoon. Lots of Caribeans sailors came, from St Marteen, Guadeloupe and Bonaire as well. The people in St Barth are really friendly and they really liked the show.

- This was your first official event of the season and you won it, so we imagine that are already in a good shape. Did you had any challenging moment during the competition?

Yes this was the first official event for me and it was just perfect to tune and see my speed compare to the other rider like Julien Quentel, Antoine Questel, Pierre Mortefon and Tati Frans. All those guys have a really good speed in PWA so I was really happy to see that I found my speed again, my new boards and sails are working really good.

I won the event but this don't means it was a piece of cake! I had some challenging moment, and especially 2 races were very tough!

During the Long Distance 4 the wind dropped just before the start, so I decided to jump on my RRD X-fire 129 and my 9.5 Evo4, but as soon as we arrived on the starting line, the wind pick up again to 20kts! All the other were on their medium boards, so I was a little worried, but at the end I found that I had the same speed than them with my big gear, so I was really surprised that I could still fight for the first position! And at the end I won the race.

The other challenging moment was in another long distance: I was on my RRD X-Fire 114 and my 8.6 Evo4 and the wind dropp a lot, maybe 12 to 14 kts! It was really light for me on that gear, but I was still very competitive and I could fight and won the race against Tati, which means that my medium gear is good in low range of wind as well.

- Which X-Fire board did you use during the competition and which are your impression about your slalom weapons after the first official event?

I was all the time on the RRD X-Fire 114 and my Evo4 8.6 except one race with my X Fire 129 and Evo4 9.5. I reaaly like my new boards, it is a bit hard sometimes to change board sponsors but my RRD X-Fire are so easy to ride and to control in hi speed that I was already in the game from the beginning of the event!!!

- Do you want to add something for your RRD fans?
Of course: RRD is the best board brand and you were right to choose it !!!

- When will we see you in action next time?
Next stop will be Maui for testing the new RRD light wind program.

Kerneur report from Mexico

Second event and new spot: this time we meet at the infamous La Ventana spot,
on the north of Baja California.
The place is cool and the wind is strong!

Unfortunately we wait for wind many days before finally it starts to blow!
The first days was time for the kite cross with strong wind conditions. I was on my 7m and I won the first heat in front of Damien Leroy and Adam Koch. Unfortunately in the second heat I had a problem
with Rob Douglas at the buoy, so I ended the final in fifth position!

In the Double elimination I scored 2 second places in a row and a 3rd place in the Final!

The next day it's time for the 11 miles long speed crossing! I scored a 5th place, but I have to tell that al the first 10th rider were very close.

The race was very heavy and physical and a lot of riders have to retire!
And then, the next day, finally was the time for the race!
The first day of race I was third just behing Damien Leroy and Adam Koch, so a good result for me...

But then the next days the wind become stronger and stronger and the race course was shortened a lot with a lot of rider on the course, so I found myself often involved in tangling with our kiters and my
final result was not that good...

After mid day was time for the BIG AIR!
After my first place in Los Barrilles I was very confident and I won 4 heats in a row, scoring a good 3rd place in the final!

So that's all from Mexico, its time to come back home, but I'll come back soon here for the first
PKRA event in Mexico!

In the meanwhile,
it's time to train and to tune!!!
A+
Julien

--------------------------------------
Julien
