2015 EFPT LANZAROTE - DAY 1

Il circuito EFPT ritorna a far parlare di se in questo 2015 con un Tour finalmente all'altezza delle aspettative ed un secondo evento a Lanzarote ben partecipato. 27 rider provenienti da 16 nazioni si sono iscritti a questa prova che va di scena dall'8 al 12 luglio sulle spiagge della Costa Teguise a Lanzarote.

Il Team RRD è molto ben rappresentato con Jacopo Testa, l'emergente Hugo de Sousa e il russo Dmitry Tertyshnyy che hanno dato spettacolo passando tutti e tre il primo turno.

Luigi Romano: Windsurf Grand Slam news

Il giovane rider RRD Luigi Romano si sta mettendo in grande evidenza in questi giorni al Windsurf Grand Slam, i campionati assoluti italiani di Slalom, Formula, Raceboard, Speed e Freestyle.

Nello Slalom Luigi è stato fra i protagonisti in tutti i 4 tabelloni disputati nei primi 2 giorni di gara, qualificandosi a 3 finali vincenti su 4, e piazzandosi comunque sempre fra i primi 10. Questa costanza gli ha permesso di raggiungere un ottimo 7° posto assoluto, 1° posto Junior!
Ma la cosa più sbalorditiva è che Luigi essendo un rider 100% RRD sulle tavole RRD X-Fire LTD V5 utilizza le vele RRD Firewing, vele Freerace a 3 camber che hanno però dimostrato di potersi battere ad armi pari con le vele più performanti disegnate per la Coppa del Mondo.

Sentiamo i commenti a caldo del giovane Luigi Romano a proposito della sua prestazione:

"Ciao. Sono abbastanza sodfisfatto della mia prova. Era un' incognita per me poichè non mi ero ancora confrontato con i miei avversari prima di questa gara e pur sentendomi bene con le vele ero un pó scettico, anche perché sembra che se non hai una vela con almeno 4 camber non puoi andare da nessuna parte! 
Una volta iniziate le prime heat tutti i miei dubbi si sono trasformati in felicità, poichè ero incrdibilmente competitivo, ho vinto quasi tutte le mie batterie di qualificazione per arrivare in finale. La prima finale l' ho fatta usando Firewing 7.0 e X-Fire LTD V5 98 con pinna da 34 . Sono partito bene, e alla prima boa mi sono ritrovato nel gruppetto di tresta fra i primi 5, ma poi sono entrato troppo aggressivo col risultato che mi sono accartocciato in strambata e sono caduto. Finisco la heat all' ottavo posto. Nel secondo tabellone mi comporto bene fino alle semifinali in cui non arrivo in tempo per partire con la mia batteria e mi devo accontare della magra cosolazione di un secondo posto nella finale perdenti. Il secondo giorno abbiamo fatto altri 2 tabelloni con il ventone. Mi qualifico per la finale vincenti in entrambi i tabelloni e metto a segno un 6 e 7 posto. Al momento sono settimo in classifica generale. Domani le previsioni non sono ottime, speriamo nel termico..."

Dan Sweeney: My First Windsurfing Competition

"Last week I competed in my first Windsurfing competition at the 2nd round of the UK Slalom championships. - I went along to support the RRD UK Crew and also to compete in the Blast event to see where my level was at. I spent a few months windsurfing before with Ant and Nik Baker but I managed to get some Windsurfing in under my belt while in St.Lucia with 2Elements RRD Centre over the winter.
We completed 20 races over Saturday and I'm stoked with my result. I won every race.!
Next stop is BSA Worthing (My home spot) -Now I'm going to get some training in, Take my windsurfing more seriously alongside my Kitesurfing and I now have my own equipment - I'm going to compete in the Am Men and then I'm off to Norfolk for the 2nd round of the UK Pro Freestyle Kite event where I'll be fighting for the UK Tittle.

Tout juste rentré de Loctudy pour la première étape AFF il a fallu enchainer avec la première étape PWA de Reggio Calabria.

Impatient de commencer pour voir comment les choses allaient se passer, comment était le spot et tout simplement pour commencer la course mais la météo en a voulut différemment.. le vent à joué avec nos nerfs les quatre premiers jours de l'événement en étant à la limite à certain moment dans la journée.. juste de quoi aller sur l'eau et rentrer après avoir fait quelques tentatives de départ pour les

premiers heat..

Finalement le thermique s'est mit a souffler à deux jours de la fin ce qui nous a permit de valider une manche dans de très bonnes conditions!!

Le stress était bien présent sur cette étape à une manche ou la moindre erreur coute cher..

Pour moi ca s'est plutôt bien passée puisque je finis 9eme.. j'ai pu voir que le matériel marchait bien et qu'il était possible de faire de bonne choses, sur 4 heat couru j'en remporte 3 dont la finale perdante

ce qui est plutôt bien.. c'est encourageant pour la suite et ca ne fait que renforcer la motivation. Nous sommes beaucoup sur le tour à pouvoir faire un top 10 et c'est toujours bien de commencer avec ce

résultat!

Maintenant je me prépare pour la Corée qui commence dans quelques

jours..!

Just back from Loctudy first step it took AFF enchainer PWA with the first stage of Reggio Calabria.

I was very anxious to attend this event and see how things would happen, how was the spot and simply start the race, but the weather has make it differently... the wind played with our nerves the first four days of the event being the limit at some point in the day... just enough to get on the water and returned after a few attempts to start the first heat..

Finally the thermical wind has started to blow the last two days, allowing us to validate a full elimination in very good conditions! 

Stress was very high, cause every single error could have an hard price to pay...

For me it has gone pretty well cause I finished 9th.. 

I have seen that the equipment worked well and this season for me will be possible to do good things, I won 3 heat on 4 run including the looser final which is pretty good result in my opinion...

This is encouraging for the future and that enhance my motivations. My goal this year is to achieve a final TOP 10 overall position and so to start the season with this result is perfect for me!

Let's see what will happens in KOREA...

Dan Sweeney: Windsurfing session after work at Sea Sprite (RRD UK)

Hi guys,

Just a quick update from this week in the UK,

We've had some amazing conditions on the south coast and after work at Sea Sprite (RRD UK) Myself and mighty whitey went for a windsurfing session down Shoreham with Nik Baker.

Conditions were strong - 4.2 weather and we got some cool shots.

I'd did 3 months worth of Windsurfing in St.Lucia over the winter and I managed to get a handful of sessions last year but I'm loving it now and it goes hand in hand with my kitesurfing!

Some news of the first event AFF!

I'm just come back home after the first event of the French Championship held at Loctudy/la Torche in Brittany.

We had very tough condition down there, with gusty wind (10/20 knots) and very choppy water. 

Anyway, in the end we almost complete 2 complete rounds.
This was the first event of the year, so it was opportunity to test our winter training against the best French slalom riders and to find again the feeling to race in "Real World Conditions" just before the first PWA event that will start in Italy in a couple of days...
The good second place that I gained in this first French Event makes me verry confident looking for the next challenges of this season...
Now I'm on my track to Reggio Calabria and I can't wait to be there and start the event!

Je rentre tout just de la première étape AFF qui se déroulait en Bretagne sur les sites de Loctudy/la Torche.
Nous avons eu des conditions pas facile, avec un vent irrégulier en force et en direction (10/20 knots).. et un plan d'eau très agité..
cela nous a quand même permit de valider pratiquement 2 manches..
Premier événement de l'année, c'était l'occasion de de voir un peu le travail effectué pour l'ensemble des compétiteurs français cet hiver mais aussi de prendre quelques départ pour se remettre dans de réel conditions de course avant la première étape PWA qui débutera le 20 de ce mois..
Je termine second de cette première AFF, satisfait de ce résultat cela fait que renforcer la motivation pour les courses a venir!

Orange Speed Crossing: Albeau on the podium

The Orange Speed Crossing and the Mondial du Vent is Over and Antoine come back home with a good 3rd place behind the World Speed Record holder Rob Douglas and Anders Bringdal. After an unlucky 14th place in the first round, the RRD rider was able to pull out a great performance rising to the 3rd place at 0,3 points behind the second place.

Here are some thoughts of the multiple World Champ about the Mondial du Vent 2012:

"This year we had a great event in Leucate with strong wind that allowed us to have 3 good run on Sunday. Unfortunately during the first run I was not able to find the good timing to take the right gust in the right moment and I had a bad 14th place. Luckily I was able to find the good speed and tming in the 2nd run, where I manage to keep the first position in front of Rob Douglas, but he passed me only in the end. On wednesday it was almost the same thing, and I have been in first position almost for one hour and then in the last minutes 4 kiters where able to jump in front of me!
Anyway, all in all for e it was a good result, because the Tramontana wind is very gusty and so it's not easy to race, but I was long time in first position during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th run. With 4 good runs and 1 discard, I think that this is a good result for me.
About the challenge against the kiters, I have to tell that this year we windsurfers were here and much more competitive than last year. The water plan was smoother than last year and as well there where not dangerous sand blanks close to the shore, so we were able to run very close to the shore like the kite.
And we found that in this range of conditions we are still competitive also against the kiters!"

Orange Speed Crossing: Last ranking

The 4th round of Orange Speed Classic is over. Antoine Albeau close this run in 4th position behind 3 kiters: Rob Douglas in first, RRD rider Sylvai Hocaini in second, Jaimi Douglas inthird. Antoine is the first windsurfer and this result allows him to jump in 3rd position of the overall ranking at just 0,3 point from the second place. 

So let's keep an eye on the blog, cause the Challenge is still on!!!
