Rubegni.

Testing RRD 2012 in OZ

Hi
Here are three photos of one of our young team guys - Matthew Gwynne -
testing the new 2012 "the four" wave sail and the new 96 freestyle wave.
Cheers
Paul
2ndwind Sailboards
RRD Australia

"It was a rare day to sail on the opposite tack to our normal winds,
with clean small waves. We only get wind from this side to ride waves
about three times a year.
The wind was only 10 knots so Matt used the 82 twin at first with the
new 2012 4.7m "The Four" wave sail. Having used this sail on a few
occasions Matt loves the immediate power the four batten sail gives
for powering down the line.
As the wind faded Matt jumped on the 2012 freestyle wave to see how it
turns on the wave and was surprised at how good it worked in the small
waves. Matt is only 65kgs so the 96ltr board is very big for him, yet
turned well even with his light weight on the rails."

Seb Garat: Worlds report!

Hi all,
here's my report with some pics of the event :
I decided to take part to the KTE (Kite Tour Europe) since we had a
pretty long PKRA break between France (in April) and Fuerteventura in
August,
This is an European Championship in 3 stops. (Germany - Italy - France).
I thought it would be the perfect occasion to test how are working my
new kites in competition and to train myself for the PKRA.
as well, I thought it would be nice to get an European Champion
Title...so I go full power on it !
So the first stop was last week in Germany - Sylt. I've never been
there before, and I just know the place from the famous windsurf world
cup…
I was a bit in shock to arrive there (one day late due to a plane
delay… but fortunately there was no Freestyle on the first day !).
Around 15 °C, dead onshore, 2 meters ugly shore break, and really
choppy outside. Looks like a roller-coaster !
Despite those hard conditions, I managed to get a 3rd place at the
single elimination, after defeating a few guys, I lost the semi final
with a bad heat, and won the losers final for this 3rd place. I've
been riding my new Obsession Pro (C shape) on this day. I was riding
on my 9 and all that I can say is that this kite is perfect for
freestyle competitions!!!
That was certainly not my goal for this event.
On the double elimination I went full power for a chance to get the
1st place. I confirmed my 3rd place in a first heat. Then I beat the
Dutch guy that beat me in the single to get the 2nd place. And then I
went up against the Single Elimination winner, Mario Rodwald. We both
did a good heat, but Mario won this final…
I got a 2nd place on this first KTE Event. Now I'm already in south
Italy, where the temperature is much better !!!
...and I'm still waiting for my boardbag that have been lost in my
trip from Germany to Italy.
Hope to win the event here for a chance to be European Champion.
See you all in Italy !

Skyeboy: Pozo disaster

The high of the wedding came crashing down today in my first heat at
the Pozo comp. Had a bit of a disaster and lost straight away. My
jumping was good, but I crashed every single wave. The wind had picked
up to about 50kts and I should have changed sail, but was trying to be
a man about it and carry on. I now have to hope we get the double done
and hope I can pass a few heats to redeem myself a bit. The forecast
looks good though, so hopefully it goes well.

RRD R&D Lab - Work it out ! video

Kite Worlds are over...

Seb Garat, Tomek Janiek and Luca Marcis
Luca Marcis racing in challenging conditions!
Julien Kerneur always consistent on his RRD K-Race board
Julien congratulates with John Heineken
The Official (?) production ranking

After 12 races and 3 discards in more than challenging conditions, with winds up to 25 knots and breaking seas of 3+ meters, John Heineken (USA, Ozone) and Steph Bridge (GBR, North) are the new world champions in kite course racing.

RRD Team rider Julien Kerneur was the only european rider fighting for a step on the podium and a 3rd place seemed a result achievable by Julien all the Worlds long, but after the last 2 races in almost impossible conditions he ended in 5th position, behind 4 USA riders.

To complete the good RRD Team performance we have RRD polish rider Tomek Janiak in 15th position, and italian ripper Luca Marcis in 18th position, both on production RRD K-RACE 65 boards.

On the production division was not so clear the procedure of registration before the event start, so in the end we found 3 riders registered in the open division on the podium of the production division.

All in all still very valuable the performance of Tomek and Luca, 5th and 6th on the production ranking, since they were the only 2 riders capable to challenge the North Army thanks to the good overall performance of RRD K-Race 65 weapon.

In the mean time we have to register a great 2nd place scored by Sebastien Garat in the Freestyle competition. This was the first official competition for Seb using his brand new Obsession Pro, the new RRD 4 line freestyle kite.

RESULTS AFTER 12 RACES (3 DISCARDS)

MEN
1. John Heineken (USA) 6.3 points
2. Adam Koch (USA) 16.4 points
3. Bryan Lake (USA) 34 points
4. Sky Solbach (USA) 36 points
5. Julien Kerneur (FRA) 39 points
